Manuscript Consultations

Learn from award-winning Diné poet Jake Skeets, author of the debut collection Eyes Bottle Dark with a Mouthful of Flowers (2019) and the highly-anticipated sophomore collection Horses, forthcoming from Milkweed. Consultations are closed.

Individual Consultations include:

1) A 3-5 page written letter that discusses the manuscript’s strengths and opportunities for revision in addition to line-edits and comments poem by poem within the manuscript.

2) One virtual meeting to discuss questions about the manuscript and review ways to strengthen the overall the project of the book.

Fee Breakdown:

• Poetry Packet + One 30-minute Meeting (7 - 10 poems): $90

• Full-length Poetry Collection + One 60 Minute Meeting(48-80 pages): $275
  For manuscripts over 80 pages, there is an additional fee of $60 up to 120 pages total.

• Additional Virtual Meetings (60 minutes): $125
  Up to two (2) additional meetings are available through the end of the Summer season.

Page lengths do not include front matter: table of contents, acknowledgements, etc. There are discounts available for Native and Indigenous poets, poets from marginalized communities, poets who have been incarcerated, and poets who have not had access to major poetry institutions (such as residencies, MFA programs, etc).
