Bio

Jake Skeets is a poet and writer from the Navajo Nation. His debut collection, Eyes Bottle Dark with a Mouthful of Flowers, was selected by the National Poetry Series and received the American Book Award, Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and Whiting Award. His second collection, Horses, was selected as one of Literary Hub’s Most Anticipated Books of 2026. He has received an NEA Grant for Arts Projects, a Mellon Projecting All Voices Fellowship, and was the 2023–2024 Grisham Writer in Residence at the University of Mississippi. He is the third Navajo Nation Poet Laureate and teaches at the University of Oklahoma.
